Workshop on Semantic Extensions to Middleware: Enabling Large Scale Knowledge Applications (2008—2009)
SEMELS was the workshop on what the middleware layer has to become once the data and processes it integrates are machine processable — semantic middleware for large scale, open and distributed knowledge applications. It ran twice at the OnTheMove Federated Conferences and Workshops, in Monterrey in 2008 and Vilamoura in 2009, organised out of the Semantic Technology Institute at the University of Innsbruck by Elena Simperl and Reto Krummenacher, with a different committee and a more service-computing emphasis in the second year.
