This thesis analyses the state of the art of modern electoral methods, focussing on the Condorcet method and its refinements, contributing to the state of the art with a complete, general purpose framework for applying such methods to arbitrary problems.
The framework is exercised in a case study regarding motorsport, looking back at the history of races and championships and measuring if and how a mathematically better founded system could have changed the hall of fame.
