This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Engineering Societies in the Agents World, ESAW 2001, held in Prague, Czech Republic in July 2001. The 12 revised full papers presented together with a survey by the volume editors were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and improvement.
