The original LWN Simulator provided a user-friendly, web-based environment for designing and evaluating LoRaWAN networks, supporting real-time interaction with virtual and real gateways, comprehensive device class simulation, and integration with production network servers. Building on this foundation, the new version introduces a transformative headless mode, enabling the simulator to operate without a graphical user interface and making it ideal for automated laboratory experiments and large-scale, reproducible research workflows. This release features a powerful API for dynamic control of node attributes, such as movement, position, and radio parameters, during simulation runtime. The simulator now supports both LoRaWAN and raw LoRa communication, with multi-frequency capabilities contributed by the open-source community, allowing experiments across diverse ISM bands. A key advancement is the digital twin framework, which enables seamless interaction between simulated nodes and real gateways, bridging virtual and physical networks for hybrid experimentation and deployment validation. These enhancements position the new LWN Simulator as a versatile and scalable tool for both academic research and industrial development, fostering innovation in LPWAN network design and testing.
