LEA was the workshop where lawyers and agent researchers met: how to conceptualise and regulate agent-based interaction legally, and how to build agents that support legal practice. It was run by CIRSFID at the University of Bologna, attached in turn to AAMAS and to ICAIL, and it could not decide on its own name — the workshop was the Law *of* Electronic Agents in some years and the Law *and* Electronic Agents in others, with the 2005 call settling on a hybrid.
