3rd International Workshop on Middleware for Grid Computing
Grenoble, France, 28/11/2005

As network performance outpaced computational power and storage capacity, a new paradigm evolved to enable the sharing and coordinated use of geographically distributed resources — supercomputers, storage systems, data sources, special devices and services, clustered and used as one. Controlling so broad a base of resources is the job of a middleware layer, and MGC was the workshop that looked at grid systems from exactly that perspective, bringing together the classic grid middleware tradition, object-oriented and component middleware, and service-oriented middleware. The third edition ran with the ACM/IFIP/USENIX 6th International Middleware Conference. Papers were published with ACM and selected extended versions invited to a special issue of Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience for 2006.
