MCCSIS 2005 was run on a unique concept for its time: a scientific conference hosted virtually. Peer-reviewed submissions, a book and CD with ISBN and best papers considered for journal versions, but attended from your office or your home, at any time across its three-week duration, with each participant choosing which sessions of which member conference to follow. Fifteen conferences made it up, from Bioinformatics to Software Engineering and Applications; Andrea Omicini served on the scientific committee of Intelligent Systems and Agents (ISA 2005), on Federico Bergenti's suggestion.
