MAS&Complexity 2005

One of the subject areas of the Complexity, Science and Society Conference held by the Centre for Complexity Research of the University of Liverpool. The session set out to explore the relation between multi-agent systems and complexity from both directions at once: multi-agent systems as models of complex phenomena, and complex computational systems such as the Internet seen as systems of interacting, intelligent agents — the design, management and control of which might benefit from what the social and physical sciences have learned about complex adaptive systems. Participants could give a long paper, a short statement of research interests or a system demonstration, and papers were to be published afterwards in a journal special issue or an edited volume.
