MAS&BIO 2008 was held in conjunction with AI*IA 2008, whose own theme that year was AI and Life Science, and was organised by the AI*IA working group on agents and multi-agent systems. It set out to create synergies between researchers working on software agents and those working on bioinformatics and computational biology, focusing on the benefits of agent technology in storing, accessing and distributing biological data; in automating information gathering and inference in biological settings; and in analysing, modelling and simulating biological objects and systems. Selected papers were announced for a special issue of an international journal.
