INTRODUCTION

The Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Community has decided to organize
an International Joint Conference, which will put together IBERAMIA'2006
(the Ibero-American AI Conference), SBIA'2006 (the Brazilian AI
Symposium) and SBRN'2006 (the Brazilian Neural Networks Symposium).
These three events will be collocated, and IBERAMIA'2006 and SBIA'2006
will have common proceedings, as in the 2000 edition.

SBIA'2006 is the 18th conference of the SBIA conference series, which is
the leading conference in Brazil for presentation of research and
applications in Artificial Intelligence. Since 1995, SBIA has become an
international conference, with papers written in English, an
international program committee, and proceedings published in the LNAI
series of Springer-Verlag.

IBERAMIA'2006 is the 10th conference of the IBERAMIA conference series,
which has been one of the most suitable forum to ibero-american AI
researchers (from South and Central America countries, Mexico, Spain and
Portugal) present their results. Following the SBIA and EPIA (Portuguese
Conference on AI) experiences, from IBERAMIA'98 on, it has also become
an international conference, whose proceedings are also published in
LNAI series of Springer-Verlag.

The International Joint Conference IBERAMIA/SBIA/SBRN 2006 is organized
by several Artificial Intelligence groups of the University of São Paulo
(USP), Brazil.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Paper registration and submissions to IBERAMIA/SBIA 2006 will be handled
using the JEMS system, which will be open for registration and
submission from December 26rd, 2005, 00:00 BRST. The address is:

Submission is a three-step process. In a first step authors are required
to register as new authors with JEMS (note that only 1 registration is
needed if you submit more than 1 paper). After registration as author
the login data will be sent to the specified email address. This data
can be used to access the system.

In a second step authors have to register their paper (click the submit
paper button in JEMS).  The authors are asked in this step to specify
the name of the authors, the paper title, its topics and the paper
category (regular, student): these categories are exactly the same,
except for the fact that the first author is a student or not. The
system will then assign a tracking  ID to each submission which is sent
to the contact author. The deadline for paper registration is March
14th., 23:55 BRST.

The third step consists on uploading the paper.  This step can be done
jointly with the registering step. For those authors who prefer to
upload their papers after registering, the tracking ID must be used. The
deadline for paper uploading is March 16th, 23:55 BRS.

We will *only* accept files either in pdf or in ps format. Please do not
try to upload doc or rtf files, they will be rejected by the system.
Note also that contrary to earlier years we only accept electronic
submissions through JEMS. Please do not send papers directly to the
PC-chairs.  Submissions sent by regular courrier or by email will *not*
be considered.

Style guide

All accepted papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lectures
Notes in Artificial Intelligence Series. Authors of accepted papers will
then be required to sign copyright release forms.

Papers must be written in English and must not exceed 10 pages,
including title, abstract, all tables, figures, and references.
Overlength submissions will be rejected without review. Authors should
use the style file of Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes to minimise the
possible conflict of paper length when preparing the camera ready. More

Submissions violating the formatting guidelines will be *excluded* from
the reviewing process.

Double blind reviewing

All papers received will be cross-reviewed by at least two referees in
the topical area.

Reviewing for IBERAMIA/SBIA 2006 papers will be blind to the identities
of the authors and their institutions. To allow for blind reviewing
replace the authors line in your paper by the tracking ID assigned at
the end of the registering step (or leave it empty in case you are not
able to remember this ID). Please avoid identifying self-references.
Replace phrases like "We have shown in [n] ..." by "In [n] it has been
shown...".

Papers which are not anonymous will be *excluded* from the reviewing
process.

Submission policy

Obligation to present in case of acceptance

By submitting papers to IBERAMIA/SBIA 2006, the authors agree that in
case of acceptance at least one author registers to the conference and
presents the paper. Furthermore, it is the conference policy that at
least one of the authors of accepted papers has to register *before* the
deadline for sending the camera-ready paper. Accepted papers without a
corresponding author registration *before* the deadline will not be
published in the proceedings.

Multiple submission policy to IBERAMIA/SBIA 2006

Papers submitted to IBERAMIA/SBIA 2006 should present substantial new
results in theoretical, empirical and applied research in one or more of
the Conference topics. IBERAMIA/SBIA'06 allows simultaneous submission
of papers to other conferences, provided that this fact is clearly
indicated by the authors in the submission process: (i) by stating the
multiple submission in the text of the paper, preferably with a footnote
on the first page and (ii) by sending a message to the PC-chairs, after
the registration step, giving details about the multiple submission
(which conference, which editor, status of the other submission).
