12th AI*IA Symposium on Artificial Intelligence (AIIA 2012)

The Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA) invites you
to AIIA-2012, the 12th biannual AI*IA Symposium on IA, organized at the
Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy).
The symposium consists of four workshops in different areas of AI, a
plenary session, a symposium in memory of Marco Cadoli,
a Doctoral Consortium and various initiatives to celebrate the
100th anniversary of Alan Turing's birth.
Please note that the early registration deadline is the 5th of June.

The conference will take place at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica
Automatica Gestionale "Antonio Ruberti" of the
Sapienza Università di Roma, via Ariosto 25, Rome, Italy. Information

Plenary Session and Invited Speakers
------------------------------------
The Program of AIIA-2012 includes a plenary session with
some invited talks by important leading researchers on recent projects,
prospects and challenges in AI. The invited speakers
are:
* Georg Gottlob, University of Oxford (UK)
* Roberto Cordeschi, Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy)
* Georgios Yannakakis, ITU (DK)

Workshops
---------
AIIA-2012 has the following four workshops.
* Italian workshop on Machine Learning and Data Mining
* 19th RCRA International Workshop on "Experimental Evaluation of Algorithms
for solving problems with combinatorial explosion"
* 3rd Workshop on Industrial Experiences of Semantic Technologies
* Popularize Artificial Intelligence, AI*IA Workshop and Prize for
celebrating the 100th anniversary of Alan Turing's birth
Moreover, AIIA-2012 will include a Symposium for remembering the
researcher Marco Cadoli at 5 years from his
untimely departure. International researchers will present the impact
Marco Cadoli's work has had on
research on various AI topics.
Doctoral Consortium
-------------------
The AIIA-2012 Doctoral Consortium will allow participants to interact with
established researchers and with other students.
Student Grants
--------------
The AI*IA offers travel grants, which partially support the travel, the
accommodation and the meal expenses, to students attending the symposium.
The candidates should send the travel grant application to
Federico Chesani
(by email fchesani@gmail.com) by June 5.

Student Thesis Awards
---------------------
The plenary session includes a sub-session where the authors awarded by
AI*IA for the best theses on AI will give a brief presentation of their
work.
Social Activities (Banquet)
---------------------------
The AIIA-2012 banquet will take place at the AIIA venue on the 14th of June.
On the evening of the 14th of June there will the projection of the
Codebreaker docudrama on the life
of Alan Turing.
On the evening of the 15th of June there will be
a theatre play on Alan Turing.
