The eighth Congress of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence, held at the Polo didattico “L. Fibonacci” of the University of Pisa and organised jointly by the Dipartimento di Informatica of the University of Pisa and ISTI-CNR. The congress opened on 23 September with four tutorials — by Paolo Torroni, Fabrizio Sebastiani, Marek Sergot and Fabio Roli — followed by three days of scientific sessions and workshops. The proceedings appeared as “AI*IA 2003: Advances in Artificial Intelligence”, edited by Amedeo Cappelli and Franco Turini, Lecture Notes in Computer Science 2829, Springer, 2003, ISBN 3-540-20119-X.
