The seventh Congress of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence, hosted by the Dipartimento di Informatica of the University of Bari, and following those of Trento 1989, Palermo 1991, Torino 1993, Firenze 1995, Roma 1997 and Bologna 1999. Alongside the scientific track the congress ran a tutorial programme and a demonstration session. The proceedings appeared as “AI*IA 2001: Advances in Artificial Intelligence”, edited by Floriana Esposito, Lecture Notes in Computer Science 2175, Springer, 2001, ISBN 3-540-42601-9.
