“Town of Saviom” is a web application developed as a joint project for the Distributed Systems and Applicazioni and Servizi Web courses. The application implements an online version of the party game “Lupus in fabula”, drawing inspiration from the mechanics of the video game Town of Salem. The game architecture centers on user interaction through a realtime shared chat, a crucial tool for discussion and deduction phases. Two game modes are provided: Classic (roles limited to Werewolf and Villager) and Advanced (introducing new roles such as Doctor and Seer). The gameplay is structured into three distinct phases that regulate chat reading and writing permissions: Day (global discussion and voting), Defense (only the accused player can defend themselves), and Night (Werewolves’ and special roles’ actions). The application offers a complete user management system, including registration, login, profile customization, and game statistics viewing. The main features of this web application allow users to create new games (acting as the lobby’s Host), search for existing lobbies via filters or unique codes, and handle automatic reconnection in case of disconnection. Additionally, a System Admin has global spectator privileges to monitor the proper conduct of matches (by viewing all players’ roles and exchanged messages).
