List of “Theses” Fields

Status

  • Status (status: Static List) — current status of the thesis
    • chosen among the following possible values
      •  Available — thesis proposal, available for student choice
      •  Ongoing — thesis already assigned to a student, work in progress
      •  Completed — thesis already completed
      •  Out-of-date — thesis proposal no longer available, for any sort of reasons–no longer meaningful, timely, relevant, interesting…
    • status of thesis is a required value
    • only one value can be selected among the avaiable ones value

Cycle

  • Cycle (cycle: Static List) – the level of the thesis
    • chosen among the following possible values
      • L – 1st-cycle degree thesis
      • LM – 2nd cycle degree thesis
      • PHD – PhD Thesis
    • just one level of thesis among the above options can be selected

Language

  • Language (language: Static List) – the official language of the thesis, typically the same of the official title
    • chosen among the following possible values
      • it – Italian
      • en – English
    • just one level language can be selected for the thesis

Title

  • Title (title: String) — official title of the thesis
    • the official title is required
    • whatever is the language of the official title
  • Translated Title (translatedTitle: String) — translated title of the thesis, if existing / useful
    • translated title is not required
  • Title vs. Translated Title
    • Translated Title should be preferrably in English, if  Title is in Italian, and vice versa

People

  • Student (student: List of Users) — student in charge of the thesis
    • values either from the list of APICe users or as “Name Surname” strings
  • Supervisors (supervisors: List of Users) — supervisors of the thesis
    • values either from the list of APICe users or as “Name Surname” strings
  • Co-supervisors (cosupervisors: List of Users) — co-supervisor of the thesis
    • values either from the list of APICe users or as “Name Surname” strings
  • Contacts (contacts: List of Users) — contact person for the thesis
    • values either from the list of APICe users or as “Name Surname” strings

Summary

  • Description (description: TextArea) — description of the main topics and of the goal the thesis
    • to be used mainly for thesis proposals, in order to fully describe the potential topics and aims of the thesis' work
    • required for thesis proposals
    • default syntax is plain text
    • for text formatting, reference syntax is XWiki 2.1
  • Abstract (abstract: TextArea) — abstract of the thesis
    • in the official language of the thesis
    • required for completed theses
    • default syntax is plain text
    • for text formatting, reference syntax is XWiki 2.1
  • Abstract vs. Description
    • in case the Abstract field is empty, the Description field is used instead for completed thesis
    • when the Abstract field is filled, it is always used instead of the  Description field for thesis display
  • Translated Abstract (translatedAbstract: TextArea) — translated abstract of the thesis
    • typically used along with the Translated Title field, in the same language
    • default syntax is plain text
    • for text formatting, reference syntax is XWiki 2.1
  • Abstract vs. Translated Abstract
    • Translated Abstract should be preferrably in English, if  Abstract is in Italian, and vice versa
  • Keywords (keywords: String) — keywords for the thesis
    • typically a list of keywords separated somehow

Dates

  • Available Since (availabilityDate: Date) — date when the thesis is first made available
    • in dd/mm/yyyy format
  • Start Date (startDate: Date) — date when the thesis' work actually begins
    • in dd/mm/yyyy format
  • Degree Date (endDate: Date) — date of the final discussion of the thesis' work
    • in dd/mm/yyyy format
    • the Degree Date is required for completed theses

Attachments

  • Local PDF (localPdf: String) — the file name of the PDF document of the thesis
    • the file can either be manually attached to the page of the thesis then selected, or directly loaded and linked to the field in a single step
    • for old theses, a .doc file is also allowed here instead of PDF
  • Show PDF (showPdf: Boolean) — public access to the PDF file of the thesis is allowed / denied
  • Slides (slides: String) — the name of the file containing the slides used for the thesis discussion
    • the file can either be manually attached to the page of the thesis then selected, or directly loaded and linked to the field in a single step
    • it can be a file of the following sorts: .pdf for PDF documents, .zip for Beamer or LaTeX sources, .ppt or .pptx for PowerPoint, .odp for OpenOffice/LibreOffice, .key for Keynote, .png for graphic files
  • Show Slides (showSlides: Boolean) — public access to the file of the slides is allowed / denied

  • AMS EPrint Number (amseprintno: Number) — EPrint number of the thesis according to the 'AMS Laurea' system
    • this number is automatically assigned by the 'AMS Laurea' system, and holds since the student gets the degree and his/her thesis is made publicly available
    • The 'AMS Laurea' URL has the form https://amslaurea.unibo.it/$amseprintno/ 
  • AMS Dottorato EPrint Number (amsphdeprintno: Number) — EPrint number of the PhD thesis  according to the 'AMS Dottorato' system
    • this number is automatically assigned by the 'AMS Dottorato' system, and holds since the student gets his/her PhD degree and his/her PhD thesis is made publicly available
    • The 'AMS Dottorato' URL has the form https://amsdottorato.unibo.it/$amsphdeprintno/ 

IDs & URLs

  • DOI (doi: String) — DOI
    • Digital Object Identifier of the thesis, if available
  • URL (url: String) — URL
    • original URL of the thesis, if available
    • typically used for non-AMS theses
