Enabling and controlling the elasticity of cloud computing applications is a challenging issue: programming directives have been introduced to delegate elasticity control to the infrastructure as well as to separate elasticity control from the application logic. Since coordination models provide a general approach to managing interaction, and elasticity control entails interactions among cloud infrastructure components, in this paper we present a coordination-based approach to elasticity programming directives, supporting delegation and separation of concerns both at design-time and at run-time, paving the way towards the notion of coordination-aware elasticity. |
