2nd International Workshop on Sustaining Privacy in Autonomous Collaborative Environments

Collaboration rests on autonomous interaction and information exchange, and when autonomous entities are deployed in open environments privacy becomes fundamental, because those entities act on behalf of their owners: the owners should know who holds their private information, who can access it and for what purpose, and how it is handled, so that unauthorised change or transfer can be avoided. By 2008 the workshop had widened beyond agents to heterogeneous technologies in general — autonomous and multi-agent systems, mobile systems, web services — as they took on ambient intelligence, e-commerce, grid computing, pervasive computing and the semantic web, with the attendant risks to the privacy and integrity of users' information. It ran at IFIPTM 2008, whose own conference days were 18 to 20 June.
