MOCA'09

Modelling is the central task in informatics: models capture, analyse, specify, simulate, validate, verify and implement systems, and doing that needs an adequate repertoire of concepts, formalisms, languages, techniques and tools. Objects, components and agents are fundamental units for organising models and fundamental concepts of the modelling process itself, yet the relations and possible mutual enhancements between theoretical and practical models had not been sufficiently investigated — MOCA addressed exactly that gap, across UML, BPEL, Petri nets, process algebras and logics. The fifth edition was organised by the Theoretical Foundations of Informatics group at the University of Hamburg and put a deliberate extra emphasis on agents, which is why it was co-located with MATES 2009 and the CLIMA-X workshop. Its proceedings appeared as a technical report of the Department of Informatics of the University of Hamburg.
