Exam

Dates

• the final exam consists of a written test and an optional project
• the written test is mandatory
  • the maximum score is 27/30
• a project is optional
  • the maximum score is 6/30
• the final score is the sum of the two scores, capped at 30/30

The written test is aimed at assessing the theoretical knowledge of the student, the project work is aimed at assessing the practical knowledge of the student.

• the written test is closed-book, with open-ended questions
  • any attempt to cheat will result in the student immediately failing the exam
• the written test will take place in person on campus, with no exceptions
  • students unable to attend an exam session will have to wait for the next one
• the written test will be conducted using computers provided on campus
  • it may be conducted on paper in the event of technical issues
• on the day of the exam, students must bring
  • their UniBo student badge
    • or, a valid identity card or passport as proof of identity
  • a black or blue pen

• students requiring special arrangements due to documented special needs or disabilities should inform the instructors well in advance of the exam
  • it may not be possible to accommodate last-minute requests
• a list of potential questions that may appear in the written test is available on VLE and APICe
  • the list is regularly updated throughout the course
  • it can help students keep up with the course and assess their level of understanding

• during the test, the following restrictions apply
  • no communication with anyone else
  • no Internet access
  • no use of phones, smartwatches, or other electronic devices
  • no access to notes or books
• students are not allowed to leave the exam room for any reason
  • except for documented medical emergencies
• students can withdraw from the exam at any time
  • in that case, your test will not be evaluated

• results will be available on AlmaEsami within a few days of the exam
  • in the event of failure or an unsatisfactory result, students may retake the exam at the next exam session
  • submitting the test without withdrawing will cause any previous result to be overwritten
• upon receiving a passing mark (18/30 or higher), it is up to the student to
  • inform the instructors that they intend to skip the project work and accept the result, thereby finalising the exam
  • or simply continue working on the project, thereby postponing the finalisation of the exam

• it should cover, or follow from, a specific topic of the course
• it may concern theoretical, technological or methodological aspects
  • e.g., a theoretical analysis of a specific issue, the implementation of a specific technology, the development of a specific methodology, …
  • yet, its main focus is to allow students to exhibit their technical skills and practical knowledge of the topics of the course
• it may be developed either by individuals or by groups
  • groups may consist of up to 3 students

• the topic has to be negotiated with the instructors in order to ensure
  • its focus on Intelligent Agents, as well as
  • its feasibility in a reasonable amount of time
• groups have to be declared on VLE by the students before starting the project work
  • the groups shall be stable and unchanged during the project work

• where a group is involved, all its members present the project work together
• the evaluation of the project work focuses on both the outcome and the documentation presented
  • both the software artefact and the project report are relevant in the evaluation of the project work
• the report should be written in English

• project discussion typically lasts half an hour, and consists of
  • a presentation of the project work by the students, followed by
  • a discussion with the instructors
