>Welcome to the EMAS 2017 web site

Engineering Multi-Agent Systems (EMAS) 2017 aims to gather researchers and practitioners in the domains of Agent-Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE), PROgramming Multi-Agent Systems (ProMAS) and Declarative Agent Languages and Technologies (DALT) to present and discuss their research and outcomes in MAS engineering. The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate the cross-fertilization of ideas and experiences in the various fields to: further our knowledge in MAS engineering and improve the state-or-the art; define research directions that are useful to practitioners; and encourage practitioners to use established methodologies for the development of large-scale MAS.

EMAS 2017 will appeal to any researcher and practitioner who is interested in the theoretical and practical aspects of MAS engineering. In addition to paper presentations, the program will include keynote speakers, varied panels and lively discussions. The workshop encourages researchers and practitioners at all levels (i.e., junior and senior) to exchange ideas, share learned experiences and hopefully converge on the definition of relevant directions for the field.

The EMAS workshop has been held as part of AAMAS since 2013 and was affiliated to AAMAS through the AOSE, ProMAS and DALT workshops since its inception.

The fifth edition of the workshop follows the successful editions that was held in 2013 in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2014 in Paris, France, in 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey and in 2016 in Singapore. The workshop will be held on May in conjunction with AAMAS 2017, in San Paolo, Brazil.

The post-proceedings of EMAS 2013 (LNAI 8245), EMAS 2014 (LNAI 8758), EMAS 2015 (LNAI 9318), EMAS 2016 (LNAI 10093)  have been published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence series.

The most "visionary paper" will be published by Springer in a book under the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) - Hot Topics series. The book will be a compilation of the most visionary papers of the AAMAS-2017 Workshops, where one paper will be selected from each AAMAS-2017 workshop. Additionally, the "best paper" will be published by Springer in a book under the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series. The book will be a compilation of the best papers of the AAMAS-2017 Workshops, where one paper will be selected from each AAMAS-2017 workshop.

Besides, best papers will be invited to be part of a **special issue** on the International Journal on Agent-Oriented Software Engineering (IJAOSE) .
